About Andy Carluccio

A double major in computer science and drama at the University of Virginia, Andy is passionate about the intersections of art and technology. For several years, he has worked at the professional and community level to explore how entertainment can be re-imagined in the digital age.

As a computer scientist, Andy develops and deploys applications for use in live performing arts, particularly in the realms of theatrical entertainment and video live streaming. He also has experience in more conventional database and IT work as well as social media analytics and marketing.

Andy is fascinated with projection mapping and live media creation, particularly in theatrical contexts. He has both designed projection graphics and built media distribution systems for several stage plays over the past few years.

His research is currently focused on automation and visualization for live performance design.

"I came to realize that the distinctions between technology and art are arbitrary, and creativity lives in their intersection..."
